Bio

Kayla Fossen graduated in 2010 from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. As an undergraduate she performed research in inorganic catalyst synthesis and analysis. Kayla attended the University of Minnesota law school, where she studied patent law and graduated cum laude in 2013. She is registered to practice in Minnesota and before the U.S. Patent Office. While in law school, Kayla was a member of the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science, and Technology. She published a peer reviewed article on the America Invents Act.

Kayla has worked with clients in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, and Biotechnology to determine patent strategy, draft and prosecute patents domestically and abroad. Kayla has also conducted prior art searches for due diligence and analyzed patents for freedom to operate and invalidity, as well as drafted and prosecuted U.S. Trademark applications.  

Kayla’s honors include Dean’s list at the University of Minnesota Law School, a merit award for Federal Income Taxation at the University of Minnesota Law School, a merit scholarship at the University of Minnesota Law School, and Dean’s List at Georgetown University.

Kayla is a member of the Minnesota Bar Association, the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Bar Association.
